Crochet Plush – Octorok (Zelda)

October 20, 2009

Feeling like diversifying a bit, I decided to switch my creative attention from Mega Man to Zelda. I had some blue yarn sitting around, so I decided to make something from the old 8-bit Zelda for the NES. The choice was hard to make. So many wonderful characters begging to be brought to life, from octoroks, leevers, and tektites to zola, pols voice, and rope.

After debating with myself for a while, I decided to go with an octorok. The body, I made out of a sphere. I improvised the snout and inserted some stiff paper to keep it flat in the front. I crocheted the mask to put on his face and then the spikes (originally supposed to be triangular) which turned into spots (surprisingly much better looking).  I put all the snout and the mask on and then worked on the legs. After the legs were completed and sewn on, I sewed all the spots on where they were in the NES picture. The end result is a pocket-size octorok you can sick on your enemies!
